Wellness

The Banyan Springs Wellness Club offers a variety of fitness classes for all ability levels, to keep our residents healthy, happy and confident. We have an annual “meet & greet” kick-off party in January to start the new season. In March, we have an annual meeting and luncheon, with elections held in the appropriate years. Dues for the club are $5.00 payable in January; membership in the Club is required to participate in our classes. Classes are open to men and women.
Our classes are:
- Gentle Yoga, or Adaptive Yoga, is geared toward people who may have to adapt traditional yoga poses to fit their current health status. Anyone with back, shoulder, knee issues, etc., is offered suggestions on how he or she can safely do the poses. This is also a great place for anyone who is new to yoga to start out.
- Intermediate Yoga is geared towards those who want a deeper yoga practice than the Gentle Yoga class. There is an emphasis on breathing, core work and technique.
- Zumba – Wednesday. Zumba is an aerobic type of dancing, most often to Latin rhythms. The Wednesday class is upbeat, fun, and will get your heart pumping!
- Zumba Toning – Friday. A lively, Latin-style Zumba class with the addition of light hand-weights. It is very high energy and lots of fun!
- Senior Fitness uses resistance devices and hand weights with the goals of muscle toning and increasing strength. The class will help with balance, coordination, and core strength.
- Core & More is a combination of Pilates, yoga and core-strengthening exercises. Students can work at their own pace while building and toning muscles, strengthening the core and improving balance.
- Jazzercise – an enjoyable workout of low impact aerobics set to music combined with some weight work.
